Prof. Venkat Raman

Prof. Muraleedharan is the Founding Director at IHSC. He is a Professor at Centre for Technology and Policy, Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. Prior to this he was the Head of Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Head of Centre for Sustainable Development, IIT Madras, Coordinator of Development Studies Group, IIT Madras and has also been a professor at Lemelson-Recognition and Mentoring Programme. He has a number of research publications including a book on ‘The challenge of health sector reform: what should governments do?’. He has been an advisor and member in a number of vital decision-making bodies such as the Mission Steering Group of the National Rural Health Mission (Govt. of India), National Course on Bio-ethics supported by the Indian Council of Medical Research, National Health Mission (NHM), Technical Advisory Group, Health Technology Assessment in India (HTAIn), Department of Health Research (Govt of India), Operational Research Programme, Tamil Nadu Health Sector Reform Programme (TNHSRP) and National Technical Advisory Group on Immunization in India (NTAGI).

Prof. Venkat Raman

Prof. Venkat Raman is the Founding Director at IHSC. He is currently a Professor at FMS, Delhi. Prof. Venkat Raman is an advisor to many bilateral and multilateral development partners such as The World Bank, WHO, DFID, USAID, GIZ, BMGF, and other international agencies on engaging the private sector for health service delivery in Asia, Africa, and Eastern Mediterranean Region. He has a number of research publications, including a book on ‘Public-Private Partnership in Health Care in India: Lessons for Developing Countries’ (by Routledge, London). He has been actively engaged as a member of various high power committees, including Working group on PPP (11th Five Year Plan), National Technical Working Group (NTWG) on engaging Private Sector in TB control, US-India Health initiative, preparing a Model Concession Agreement for PPP in NCD Care for Niti Aayog, and task force on performance-based incentives for primary care providers by the Ministry of Health, GoI. He has delivered talks on knowledge platforms both nationally and internationally. Prof Venkat Raman has received several awards and fellowships, such as the McNamara fellowship of The World Bank; Ronald Coase fellowship, UC-Berkley; and ICSSR International Senior Research fellowship, Erasmus University.

Secretariat

The secretariat under IHSC is the techno-managerial body, operating as the operational unit of the collaborative. The Secretariat’s mandate is to convene and facilitate research, capacity building, and policy engagement activities. It also convenes regular meetings of members of the collaborative. The Secretariat is appointed by IHSC Board of Directors.

Mr Maulik Chokshi

Strategic Lead IHSC, and Director Health Systems ACCESS Health International

Mr Maulik Chokshi is the Operations head at IHSC. He currently is the Director of Health Systems at ACCESS Health International. Prior to this Mr Maulik spent eight years at Public Health Foundation of India. He has also been an advisor to the global healthcare information company IMS Health, and worked as a consultant to many national and international agencies and development partners. He has extensive experience in policy and capacity building initiatives related to medicine procurement, healthcare financing, pricing, immunization, maternal and child health in an Indian setting.

Mr Tushar Mokashi

Lead, Research, Policy Engagement and Partnerships at IHSC and Senior Technical Specialist ACCESS Health International.

Tushar Mokashi supports the overall management and research at IHSC. He supports the healthcare financing and research work at Access Health International. He was previously associated with the healthcare financing team at National Health Systems Resource Centre, New Delhi providing continuous technical support on Healthcare Financing issues to the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, State Departments of Health & Family Welfare, NITI Ayog, Finance Commission, Ministry of Statistics & Program Implementation and other government institutions across the country.

Mr Arun Nair

Lead , Research and Knowledge Management at IHSC and Consultant ACCESS Health International

Arun supports the research activities at IHSC. He works with the ACCESS Health India team on health financing and systems research. Arun began his career with the National Health Systems Resource Center, New Delhi as a Health Finance Consultant and was involved in technical support for the implementation of health financing programs under the National Rural Health Mission. He later worked with the Institute of Public Health, Bangalore as a faculty member in Health Economics and Financing. He was Deputy Director Research of the State Health Systems Resource Center, Kerala prior to joining the ACCESS Health India team. Currently, he is a member of committee on costing of health services of Government of Kerala.

Ms Sawan Sharma

Manager, Operations, IHSC and Program Coordinator ACCESS Health International

Sawan supports operations at IHSC. She works with the ACCESS Health India team on their health systems strengthening and health policy programs. Prior to joining ACCESS Health, Sawan worked on multiple assignments across the public and private sectors, including projects with donor agencies, international NGOs and government clients such as the World Bank, Niti Aayog, Medtronic, and the UNDP. Sawan is a postgraduate in biotechnology from Guru Gobind Singh Inderprastha University, Delhi.

Ms Guneet Kaur Ghai

Associate, Communications at IHSC and Research Associate ACCESS Health International

Guneet is responsible for coordinating action between the various stakeholders at IHSC. She is a part of the Research and Policy Team at ACCESS Health. Before joining ACCESS Health, Guneet supported NGOs with geriatric research and development in rural Maharashtra. She is a microbiologist with a master’s degree in public health from University College, Dublin.

Ms Harpreet Kaur

Associate, Knowledge Management at IHSC and Research Associate (Health Systems) ACCESS Health International

At IHSC Harpret supports the team in research and capacity building activities. She is part of the Health Systems Research and Policy team at ACCESS Health India. She has a master’s degree in public health from the from University College Dublin, Ireland. Prior to this, she attained a Post Graduate Diploma in Dietetics and Public Health Nutrition from Lady Irwin College, D.U..
